DESIGNING LEADERSHIP SESSION 1 – LEADERSHIP LAUNCHPOINT: ESTABLISH YOUR LEADERSHIP STYLE

Led by Jane Farran, Managing Partner, C4 + Senior Fellow at Wharton Executive Education.

This introductory session will help participants understand how to maximize their learning experience. Through exercises and other activities, attendees will meet their fellow participants, become comfortable with them, and discuss the weaknesses that they want to address in the program. In becoming familiar with each other, participants will share backgrounds, objectives for the program, and what they can contribute to the group learning experience. The group will participate in an experiential exercise to identify some drivers of their leadership behavior and how these drivers might help them target specific action steps for the future. Day 1’s learning and discussion is shaped by a self-assessment test that will help participants analyze their own behavior during conflicts and explore how this translates to a group setting. Participants will discover different approaches to managing conflict and how to recognize which works in a particular context.

Designing Leadership 2018 consists of five classroom sessions, each with a focus on a different leadership competencies and techniques. Expert faculty, instructors and mentors from The Wharton School and seasoned consultants from the IBM Leadership Academy will ground participants in real-life scenarios and shared experiences so that they come away with a strong sense of purpose. Click here to apply to join this year’s Designing Leadership cohort.
