Philadelphia Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts Volunteer of the Year Award 2017 Winner Sekou Campbell
Sekou Campbell, Law Office of Sekou Campbell PLLC
For volunteer consulting work with The Magic Bowl Dance Company
Sekou Campbell advised The Magic Bowl Dance Company (Magic Bowl) Presents Philly Thriller for several months leading up to the Company’s October 2015 annual performance of Philly Thriller, a Thriller-inspired Halloween dance celebration for the community. Sekou drafted governance documents and filed necessary federal and state documentation to establish Magic Bowl as an LLC. Sekou also provided Magic Bowl with his insight into insurance issues and copyright law in understandable terms. Sekou’s input and his enthusiasm for the program have proven invaluable to Magic Bowl. In addition to legal support, Sekou provided strategic support to Magic Bowl as it thought through its role in the community it serves. Demonstrating Sekou’s commitment to Magic Bowl, he even participated in rehearsals and a performance of Philly Thriller. Although his involvement with the project officially ended some time ago, Sekou continues to support the organization by providing important insights into many aspects related to establishing an artistic community endeavor as a viable and sustainable self-supporting project that can benefit the community at large.
